Working with local and regional organisations
Working with local and regional organisations on initiatives designed to further social development.
Once again Grupo VAPF has collaborated with AKIRA Benissa Dog Sanctuary, by providing the funds necessary for the upkeep of the shelter. This way we are helping to guarentee the safety and protection of the dogs during their stay.
The animal welfare association AKIRA was founded in 2011 to cover the need for shelter for abandoned or rescued animals, waiting for a new home, in the towns of Benissa, Teulada and Moraira.
Although AKIRA receives funds from these city councils,in order to survive, it depends on private donations such as ours and on the many activities they carry out during the year in order to take the rescued animals to the vet, vaccinate them, deworm them and microchip them, pay for operations that save their lives, maintain the shelter in good condition, process adoptions, buy food and medication; All this without forgetting the essential work of the volunteers who must collect the abandoned animals, take them to the vet, give them food and water, take them for a walk, clean them, medicate them and a long list of tasks that are performed every day without fail.
All this work, as they say, is challenging, laborious and often heartbreaking, but always rewarding.
